You
know, after seven months I'm beginning to gain some real insight to the Swiss.
They are really a straight forward people. It's only that everything they
do is done at 100%, there's absolutely no half measures. For example a local
company decided to sponsor a beach volleyball competition. Just imagine that,
blonde sun-tanned bodies in skimpy costumes, leaping all over the place, kicking
up sand and diving all over the place after the ball. The girls looked pretty
good too.
So where did they hold this competition? Australia, Florida, the Med? Try the main hall of the Zurich main railway station. Yes, they had gone the whole hog. Stands, seating, flags food stalls and of course a beach. Tonnes and tonnes of sand beautifully sculptured into a beach, net, referee the works. It was spectacular in it's own Swiss way.
What is that saying? Something about Mohammed and a mountain? They know all about mountains in this country, they use trains to make them closer.
