OK I can hear you saying it. If things are really so bad why do you still live there?... Good Question. Here are some answers.

  1. There is generally less crime here than in the UK.
  2. The pay is better.
  3. People are generally just people no matter how the political system runs.
  4. Living abroad is an adventure (which I think everyone should experience).
  5. I LOVE Mountains, skiing, climbing, walking and photographing.
  6. I have good friends here.
  7. I like the attitude and approach of some of the Swiss people

Let me expand on the last one a little. Mountaun VeiwIt is my experience that Switzerland could teach the English people some things they seem to have forgotten. For a start they take genuine pride in their country's history. They understand it isn't perfect but don't try to impose today's morals on people from, what is in effect another culture, the past.

They are strong on individual rights and open and honest government. Spin has far less strength here and I suspect would be less tolerated. The Swiss are into doing things right rather than a quick fix. They still buy the product not the packaging.

This is a land of opportunity. People of all ages are given the chance to be self employed and can make a fortune if they want to work hard enough. Indeed the tax system does not discriminate between employed and self-employed at all. Both are treated equally.
