Well that's two years over and we're still here. This time last year I wrote
both an entry and a year end round-up. This year it seems less appropriate
to do both. So I'll just ramble on a bit as usual.
Over the last year life has been full of up's and down's some of which have made it into this web-site. in the last twelve months you've been treated to my warped observations on such diverse subjects as Swiss drivers, a missed trip to New Zealand, nationality - Swiss style, holidays in the Maldives and of course September 11th. Through all this you have seemed attentive, tolerant, and judging from the feedback sufficiently entertained to let me know this. Certainly there have been no cries from Swiss interest groups to have me taken from the web (disappointing in a way). During this time my teaching career has generated a fluctuating but welcome income. Whilst my web-site building skills have,after an eratic start, increased in demand. At least amongst the voluntary (i.e. unpaid) section of the market. For any of you interested in my other creations I'll be adding a set of links as soon as I have redesigned this site.
Beyond all that what has happened? Well.....my originall ambition to be a ski-bum has seen a muted and intermitent realisation. That terrible four letter word work seems to get in the way still (I really must try to kick the habit sometime). On ther other hand my exploration of this facinating country has progressed steadily. Unfortunately I am still no nearer understanding the people and culture than I was when I first got here. On the other hand my grasp of German has now progressed beyond the jahr, bitte, nein, danke phase it seemed to be stuck in for so long. I still can't discuss politics, religeon or Euclidian geometry in the language (What is Euclidian Geometry?), but I can share and understand simple jokes. Also I now catch myself swearing at the idiot drivers of this country in German first, that must count as some sort of progress. All in all, discounting last month It's been a good year and hold promise of more to come........can't be bad. Eh?
